The fees for services provided by our anesthesiologists and certified nurse anesthetists are not included in the hospital bill, so you will receive a separate bill for these professional services.

Piedmont Triad Anesthesia (PTA) is an independent private physician practice that provides the surgical anesthesia services at Novant Health facilities in the Triad region, and are not included in the hospital bill. You will receive a separate bill for these professional services.

PTA’s fees are based on several factors including the type of surgery, the length and the complexity of the surgery, the patient’s physical condition, and any ancillary services required such as regional anesthesia for postoperative pain management. The anesthesiologist’s bill is independent of the type of anesthesia. The anesthesia charge on your hospital bill is generally for the equipment and supplies that are provided by the hospital or surgical facility.

Since PTA is an independent physician practice, our participation with health insurance companies and other third party payers may differ from the hospital or surgical facility. Insurance information is typically provided to PTA by the surgical facility at pre-admission. Piedmont Triad Anesthesia acts on your behalf and bills insurance based on the information that you provide at the time of your surgery or procedure.

As a courtesy and convenience to our patients, PTA will always bill the carrier, third party payer or guarantor listed on your admission form before invoicing you for our services. You will be responsible for co-payments and any portion of the bill that is not paid by insurance. Keep in mind that if any part of the insurance information is missing, the submission of the claims could be delayed and could result in the entire amount becoming your responsibility.

If you believe that any of the insurance information we have received is not correct or is incomplete, please refer to the telephone number printed on your billing statement or click here to provide the updated information.
