Post-operative Pain Management

PIEDMONT TRIAD ANESTHESIA

Post-operative Pain Management:

What to Know and Expect

Our anesthesiologists work closely with patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings to create individualized, comprehensive plans for optimal pain treatment.

There are many advantages of effective post-operative pain management, including greater patient comfort, greater mobility after a procedure, fewer pulmonary and cardiac complications, reduced risk of deep vein thrombosis, and quicker recovery.

A PTA anesthesiologist will:

  • Work with the patient to manage post-operative pain and to return as quickly and as comfortably as possible to their daily routines.
  • Explore targeted, non-narcotic and narcotic medication options and technologies, including the use of a pain catheter and pump.
  • Provide advanced regional anesthesia techniques under ultrasound guidance when appropriate.
